You wouldn’t believe it if I told you–I almost don’t believe it. Brace yourself. Are you ready? Here goes! I graduated from college 10 years ago. *Gasp!* I know, hard to tell given my youthful glow. Heheee, I kid. No seriously, this past weekend I celebrated 10 years as an alumna of Hampton University.
On Friday, I headed up to Hampton Roads, VA where the illustrious Hampton University was planted in 1868. While there was a ton of hype leading up to the weekend, I had no true idea of what to expect. The moment I caught sight of my precious University, which looks quite different now given all the additions to campus, I knew I was home.
Dubbed #HomecomingbytheSea, the weekend promised bazaars, cookouts, parties, and good times galore–not to mention a great football game against Morgan State University. All in all, I am so full! I had the chance to catch up with so many old faces and former classmates and talk about just where they are in life.
Isn’t that what college is all about anyway–developing your tribe who shares a similar vision and supports your social and mental growth?! Oh yeah, not to mention–higher ed! Anyhow, I am all for it.
I had an amazing time and wanted to share with you these precious tidbits from my personal life! And if you ever need the elevator pitch on just why Hampton University is the BEST place to send your child, mentee, friend, etc.–please contact me, I got you boo!

This was Friday’s scene in our student center when I arrived on campus… The student center is where we gather to see everyone and when in undergrad, we called a moment like this on Friday our “12 to 2”–which indicated the time gap that we’d spend in this very same building socializing and listening to a DJ spin whatever was on the Hot 100 at the time.
Right outside of these doors is where there was a major bazaar happening and I scored great ‘nalia (Sorority gear, skeewee)–but NOT before trying on a few “fail” pieces first lol.
That night, my sorority sisters and I hit the well-known alumni All Black Party, going seven years strong and worth its salt and $30 ticket price lol.
On Saturday, I spent time on campus, attended the game, visited my sorority plot and participated in my chapter’s homecoming serenade.
Before the night’s party, I had a fun and funny dinner with my sorority sisters!
And here’s a photo of us on the final night at the final party!
In case you are wondering, I may do a post on my party dresses so you too can know exactly where I snagged them–so stay tuned for that! Besos!
