I had a weekend full of running around –from errands to church obligations and social gatherings, I was moving faster than the speed of light. By Saturday around noon, I’d had enough. My calendar was telling me that I had quite a few more tasks to handle, but my body was saying Slow Down! in no uncertain terms.
What did I do? I slowed down. In fact, I stopped. Maybe a few years ago, back when I was in my twenties–I would have burned through the day. Nowadays, no ma’am. I know when to put it in first gear and bring my speed right on down. I enacted a full “Sit Yourself Down and Have Spa Time” Day. Yes, I really did.
I brewed myself a nice cup of java and decided to try out a few products I’d picked up over the months. This “me time” didn’t disappoint. Does “me time” ever disappoint? Hmmm not to my recollection *wink*.

Chocolate Vanilla Shea Soap and Green Tea Shea Soap –
I actually picked this up from a beautiful Ghanian-European woman who had a booth at a street market in Greenwich Market when I visited London earlier this year. She had the cleanest accent (that’s how I describe English accents because they are so crisp and perfect to me) and an amazing smile. She had an array of soaps and I chose these two (among others). I’m not sure how extensive her online shop is, but maybe call-in orders are a thing!
Coffee Brown Sugar Body Scrub
Hmmmm yummm! I wish I could enable a scratch-and-sniff feature on your screen so you could experience the deliciousness that is this coffee brown sugar body scrub from a boutique bath and body company called Mitra’s. I met the business owner and her family at a recent beauty expo in Atlanta and I can’t lie, I was enthused to support her because the sales girl (her daughter) was just too cute to resist–but after cracking open this scrub, I am so glad I did. Mitra’s products are amazing. This scrub literally smells like your favorite cup of joe and has a great scrub-to-oil ratio. It definitely melted right perfectly into my skin after scrubbing, leaving it soft and moisturized.
Crème Brûlée Hand Poured Soy Wax Candle
Also by Mitra’s, this candle smells heavenly and burns so evenly and smooth. Even if you don’t like dessert-sweet smells, this scent is subtle and warm and spans the entire ground floor of my home. Yes, this teeny little candle. My only complaint is that I didn’t buy more than one.
