Now ladies, one of the most important components to discovering your own style code and maximizing it to the tenth power is knowing your colors. Colors? Yes ma’am, your colors! Mastering what hues pair well with your tone and bring out your radiance is a style secret that only you can unlock. Don’t get me wrong, you can rock any shade you want, at any time, and don’t let anyone tell you differently. But let’s be honest, there are some colors that look better on us than others. For me, because of my warm undertones, I find myself gravitating toward “warmer” shades and olive green is my thing!
Olive green is a fun neutral that works against my skin or as the hue to a great accessory. I’m so guilty of finding too many “like” pieces in my closet that are a shade of olive green. Oh well! More ways to rock it, I guess!
I dug deep into my closet to pull out these olive pieces that make me feel youthful and spunky, despite the crisp, windy weather going on in my southern state. I picked up this cute little military style bomber jacket at God knows where more than five years ago. I paired it with a ruched skirt from Forever 21 and those fun combat style, block heel boots from Steve Madden (Christmas gift, remember?). My 30-something year-old self took one look in the mirror and felt 19 again!
I will admit that I wore this jacket in public once and it wasn’t appreciated by a passerby. You can say that the patches on this military-style jacket are a little too much like the real deal. And even though a uniformed friend of mine says that my rocking these patches on what is clearly a woman’s fashion item isn’t at all offensive, it wasn’t my most shining style moment. So if you’re aiming to replicate this look, I encourage you to land on a jacket that has just a pinch less military-flare, I’ll say *wink.*
